Did they reimburse you for the half inch of tread they roasted? LOL

The tires were already pretty worn from a day on the track. It would have probably been quicker on fresh tires.

Now thats a real world comparison.

It seems they are just about equal for the "typical" driver/owner. It just all depends on what you want.

I hope they do the same comparison with the ZR1 and the ACR.

Maybe it's because he's a Mopar guy (despite the show's vehement exhortations that no bias was tolerated), but it sure sounded like he was having trouble getting excited by the Z06. He should have driven that first...

Could Dodge be doing any worse of a job at marketing the '08 Viper? I mean, GM is broke, too, but they have done a fantastic job pimping the 06+ Z06's and ZR1.

Kudos to Sundiego for letting everyone but the Presidential candidates beat the shit out of his rig. Dodge owes this man some tires.

You're right, of course, but you also can't ignore that working in GM's favor are 750,000 highly-vocal rabidly-faithful Vette owners, and both cars are still in the price range where a $10,000 difference carries some weight.

All I know is that John Hennessey and Sundiego have done as much branding of the '08 Viper as Dodge. For an alleged halo vehicle, they haven't even seeded the halo effect. It's insulting to us, owners past and present, and the engineers, who really did a great job. The ACR should be getting so much run that fucking Nissan GTR boards are whining about it being overhyped...

I have a 5,000 word marketer's rant about how they've fucked this all up that I'm trying to suppress.

I would think the reality is pretty simple. The new owners have already decided that a halo car does not fit their vision of a profitable Dodge and as such they have no interest in spending money on it.

You will continue to see commercials for the Nitro and whatever sack of shit 4-banger they decide to pursue, as well as $12k jeeps that get 22 mpg. The signals are clear and the wind is blowing. We're just sitting around refusing to believe the end is here.

SRT produced a hell of a car and the new owners just don't care.

Kind words, although overstated from my point of view.

Now if Dodge would provide me with a supply of free tires and some incentives, like Arizona proving ground time, I would have my car at different open track days every week and let a few key people try it at each event. I would have their order books backed up for years.

Frustration, meet Hyperbole. Hyperbole, Frustration. Now go say something nice about the guy who let you pound on those very same tires.

Dodge doesn't need to market the Viper. Vipers sell without marketing. Besides, marketing would just get a bunch of whiney candyasses buying Vipers and then complaining about how difficult it is to drive and how dangerous it is that it doesn't it come with TC or paddles. Let GM and Nissan have those customers.

I have a couple Vet buds that are awesome drivers and have been tracking Z06s for as far back as I can remember. They are both switching to the ACR if they can get their hands on them. So if there is anybody out there that has connections contact me and I'll put you in touch with a couple guys ready to buy.

So they gave the Vett the handling trophy even though it was beat in every other catagory. Because it's easier to handle. LOL How rewarding.
